Modern Wedding Invitations for a Stylish Celebrity Wedding
Author: Grace Chen
Roll out the red carpet because your wedding will keep the paparazzi talking for years to come! From the carefully hand selected centerpieces to the amazing flower bouquets, modern brides and their beaus can get married in style just like the celebrities.
No matter what your budget may be, you can select the finest wedding invitations that your budget can afford and still be considered an A-Lister to all your friends and family.
Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams
Pull out all the stops and get rid of any misconceptions you might have about wedding invitations. Traditional stationery featuring lovebirds and wedding bells are a thing of the past. Follow the likes of steel company owner, Lakshimi Mittal, whose daughter, Vanisha, was married in 2004. Encased in silver and offering twenty pages of prose written by family members, the 1,200 wedding invitations cost Mittal a mere fortune. Despite the expense, guests were left with a remarkable keepsake that they could value forever.
The average couple can’t afford to send out invitations like Mittal’s, but they can tap into the inspiration of the event by designing wedding invitations that take your breath away. Consider encasing your invitation in a red envelope to exude the celebrity feel. Or you can even create your own satin fabric envelopes that will luxuriously contain all of the details to your special day.
Incorporating Your Celebrity Values into Your Wedding Invitations
Alicia Silverstone, who played Cher in the movie Clueless, and her husband, Christopher Jarecki, incorporated their values into their wedding theme. By hosting an all-natural, organic wedding, Silverstone and her fiancé were able to send out recycled invitations complete with seeds that could be planted later. Not only was the stationery unique, but it also was eco-friendly, which fit the lifestyle of the actress and her soon-to-be husband.
Other celebrities had their wedding invitations personally designed and customized like Eva Longoria and Tony Parker. Both Hispanic, the famous couple included two wedding traditions in their ceremony. In preparation for the event, they sent out instructions explaining the process to their guest courtesy of their wedding invitations.
Easy Ways for Your Wedding Invitations to Be Glamorous
Black wedding invitations with gold or silver script look elegant without being too extravagant. Select a style that suits you and pick a font that matches your theme. If you would like more color added to your stationery, choose bright tones like fuchsia, orange, emerald green, or purple. Bold patterns add personality to even the most inexpensive wedding invitations.
Sheer ribbon, tiny seashells, and other embellishments make unique souvenirs for your guests. Hand select items that would appeal to others. Glitter, wax seals, and stamped clay pendants add a special touch to pre-bought stationery. Visit a local arts and crafts store to find these items.
You don’t have to be famous to have the wedding of the century. Impress your guests with amazing wedding invitations that reflect the essence of who you are and where you hope your marriage will someday be.

Sounds like a blast for a wedding reception! You have a lot already covered, but how about:
1) How about having the DJ/Band play popular songs from movies throughout the night?
2) Have movie character themed drinks: Shirley Temples, James Bond Martini, etc.
3) Have your food relate to movies such as “American Pie”=Mini Cherry/Apple Pies, “A Fish called Wanda”=Fish , “Silence of the lambs”=Lamb, “Spaceballs” = meatballs, “Chicken Run”-Chicken
4) Have an awards ceremony-type thing where you give trophies throughout the night to World’s Greatest Parents, Best Maid of Honor, Best Dancer.
All the Best,

The academy awards invitations are gold paper with the award on the front and you have your adress, date and place on it. Hope this helps.
seems like you covered it all… maybe have some signature cocktails named after actors. Obviously, a good kids one is a Shirley Temple.
Love the vintage wedding dress, very nice. I love the bridesmaids dresses and think they will def. match the wedding dress.v The bridesmaid dresses are not any where near a 1960′s style like the first poster said. She obviously doesn’t know what the 1950′s style was. Love the look!
The cake looks lovely as well, especially with the way you want to do it.
For the movie theater invites here are a couple of sites I thought would be helpful:

I would do dark red roses for your bouquet tied with some black ribbon.
Hope this helps. Best of luck & congrats!
Some of you who are giving her links to other bridesmaids dresses, most of you are choosing dresses that DO NOT FIT the 1940′s/1950′s style at all. If you don’t know what the style is don’t suggest anything.
I am usually very against “theme” weddings, but I actually like this one. Just be careful, don’t let it look cheesy like a kids birthday party. All of the ideas you have so far are great, leave the movie “UP” out of it other than the adventure book.
I think centerpieces are another way you could incorporate the theme, in a mature way. Try getting globes (i’ve seen some at Marshals and TJMAXX for $12-$24 depending on size) or glass lanterns, and surround them with some simple flowers instead of doing the traditional “flowers in a vase” thing.
Have a nice, classy (and probably small), leather or dark wood chest (also available at those stores) with a slit in the top on the present table, for cards and gift certificates instead of the typical fabric box. This is your “treasure” box.
For your guest book, you could have a map instead of a book, and people can decide where to sign. Somewhere they’ve been, somewhere they want to go, where they live, etc. I’ve seen this done with calendars, where people sign on whatever date has some meaning to them. A map is more in line with your theme.
What do the Academy Awards invitations look like?
I am planning my wedding, and the theme is movie star glitz and glamour. I would like to know what the invitations for the Academy Awards looks like.
movie themed wedding?
I’m looking for ideas for a movie themed wedding. I have a start but I want as MANY ideas as possible to make the wedding a really fun event. I’m being careful not to choose too many “cheesy” ideas…Here’s a few things I have in mind for the wedding: Clapper board place card holders and photo frames, actor themed table names, showing a slide show of the couple with music/facts/photos and rolling “Credits” at the end, red carpet in the entrance and down the aisle, “Biography” of bride/groom in “goodie” bags, the words “and the winnner is….” on the front of the invitation envelope, chocolate “oscar” candies at reception, Food on buffet labeled with movie themes like “American Pie”, “A Fish called Wanda” , “Silence of the lambs”, “Spaceballs” = meatballs, etc. Also directors chairs with bride/groom names on them, and possibly an awards ceremony to friends and family for categories such as “Best Friend”, “Best Comedian”, etc. Any other ideas for me?
Wedding Dress match Bridesmaids?
The wedding theme is 1950′s glamour (I absolutely adore starlets such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly etc). So much so that what I have planned so far to make it authentic is the following:
Red carpet when we arrive
Old style flashing lightbulbs for the guests/bride and groom walking down the red carpet
Champagne /Martini cocktails on arrival
Table places set with pictures of my favourite starlets all with a quote about love or marriage
Invitations as old movie theatre tickets
My theme is predominantly black/white and red. The cake I like is as below (imagine with red flashes toward the ”black lace” piping and with red roses on the cake) oh and it will be 4 tiered also.

Anyway, the question I am asking is this. This is the dress I have fallen in love with:
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.weddingo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/ninashort.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.weddingo.co.uk/2008/07/09/1950s-style-short-tea-length-wedding-dress-by-stephanie-allin/&usg=__rgI9HoN6Tm5OPRm7lDOQEZbtIxo=&h=516&w=400&sz=100&hl=en&start=19&um=1&tbnid=Ar3c7IQWLEt3DM:&tbnh=131&tbnw=102&prev=/images%3Fq%3D50%2527s%2Bwedding%2Bdress%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
Will it match this bridesmaid dress (I will have four adult bridesmaids and a flower girl)
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Strapless-Rockabilly-Polkadot-Dress/dp/B00144I2TM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250623244&sr=8-1
I also want them to wear elbow-length black satin gloves.
Do you think this will all match and tie in well? If you have any other ideas for bridesmaid dresses please send links, but in my colour guidelines BLACK, WHITE AND RED please. I really want tea length girly shape preferably with netting under.
Also if you have any ideas for flowers etc…. all suggestions welcome

thanks and sorry for such a long post
The flashing bulbs are only for the red carpet and the lights in the hotel will be dimmed and the photographs black and white. I have seen proofs and they are excellent, very arty. Normal, digital cameras and video will be used for the rest of the day
Thanks girls you are being very helpful – but please don’t concentrate too hard on the ”Hepburn” thing… I don’t want to replicate her exactly (if anything, I much preferred Marilyn’s look) I just want a Hollywood style 40′s/50′s bridesmaid dress which is classy and will match that dress. Any ideas for table decorations? So far I’m thinking white and red roses and black ostrich feathers….
Have already picked the photographer /seen the proofs and had test shots taken- just asking about the dresses and other bits thanks guys….
Wedding Movie Theme Suggestions?
We are getting married in hawaii..coming home and having a reception. We are both comic book and movie geeks. That being said we chose to have a movie theme for our 120 person reception. So far we have a superman and lois cake topper..old fashion movie ticket style invitations, Personalized Wonka Bars as favors with personalized golden tickets inside, and our centerpieces are these cool clapboards that hold a picture of a movie…When people come in their place card will have their name and their movie , then they will find their own table. Can anyone else think of any cool ideas to add? We wanted our wedding to be about what we like and a lot of fun. Our First Dance is adam sandlers song i wanna grow old with you. Please I’m open to suggestions. Thanks so much!
Adventure themed wedding ideas?
I want my wedding to have an “adventure” theme.
Myself and my fiance both love nature and the outdoors and I think it would be very fitting and fun for us.
Ideas so far:
wedding flowers – wildflowers
Invitations would include a “treasure map” of the locations
Stars projected or hanging from the ceiling at the reception
Wedding photo album would be “our adventure book”, similar to the one in the movie “UP”
and then I’m stuck. Does anyone have some suggestions on how I can incorporate an adventure theme into my wedding?
Thanks for any suggestions, they are appreciated!
