Wedding Speech Tips For Your Sister's Matrimony

Author: John W Dixon

I wrote a great and inspirational wedding speech in my sister's wedding. You too can help inspire and light up a wedding if you make a great speech similar to mine. Just read on and I can help you by sharing some of the knowledge I learned from some speech writing pages on the Internet.

I was also anxious and distressed at the upcoming wedding of my sister because I did not have a proper wedding speech or toast at all. I was so stressed out that I was not sleeping properly weeks before the wedding. I thought that I cannot come up with a good wedding speech. Good thing I searched around the web and found some guide that I also want to share with you all in this article.

The first thing I did was to calm down. After calming down a lot I was able to think clearly and searched the web for some answers. I will share with you some of the tips I found.

1. Write your speech with a single theme in mind. The one theme or one topic policy is definitely for coherence's sake. This does not mean that you can only tell one anecdote or story. What this means is that you can tell a bunch of stories with one over-arching theme governing them.

2. After you figure out your theme then be sure to determine what point it is that you want to impart to your audience or listeners, especially the newly weds. You can be inspirational and funny at the same time.

3. Be imaginative, use colorful words, metaphors, and even strong imagery to help your audience visualize what you are talking about. For example, instead of stating things, show them. Show, don't tell is the classic advice given to creative writers.

4. Rehearse your speech in front of someone else. This will allow the person to critique your speech and style of delivery fast and efficient. This is helpful if you don't have enough time. Working with another person is really the best. Hey, the adage is correct, two brains are indeed better than one.

5. If you don't have anyone to rehearse with then try and record yourself delivering the speech. Believe me, hearing yourself in recording will help you straighten out your delivery and even the voice and style of your writing.

I followed the following steps and I wrote a great wedding speech at my sister's matrimony. It was a very classy and inspirational speech that did not detract from the newlyweds. I'm kind of proud of myself for putting the effort and thought into the speech. I was just glad that my wedding speech made my sister and her husband very happy. They are both very pretty.
I think that the second one stands out because of the color.
I would customize the color you put on it to the color theme of your wedding.
The blue works well for a cruise ship wedding because of the water, and the shimmery paper reminds me of the sun reflecting off the water.

First one is very pretty. I like the second one better. Third one looks more like a save-the-date because of it’s shape. I love the fourth one, if it goes with your other themes. The fifth one isn’t my favorite, but I like it too.

Honestly, I’d like any of them. I think that the fourth one is my favorite because it’s interesting and unique. The second one is my next favorite.

Great choices! You have amazing taste! I wish I had seen this before I bought my invitations…..one of my colors is lavender too!

    *your parents*
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
    *your name*
    to
    *fiancé’s name*
    on
    date and time
    at
    church name
    church address

    reception to follow

another “fold” can have the directions to the church

on the address cards you hand out at the reception you can say something like:
after party hosted by *aunt and uncle*
with directions from the church – or this can go on the third “fold” but only because you say the whole thing is informal

since only people hosting and people being honored have their names on the invitation so you don’t mention his parents (my fiancé is fighting me on this one – but it’s just too many names with all of them included)

if his parents do end up paying for the rehearsal dinner you can put them on the invite for the rehearsal dinner – since not everyone that’s invited to the wedding will be invited to the rehearsal dinner then that would not mean they should be added to the wedding invites

Wedding invitations- which one is better for a cruise ship wedding?
Should I do an invite like this:
    http://www.ourweddingplus.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/unique_wedding_invitations_bottle_2.jpg
    Or like this:
    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20500913&ref=sr_gallery_2&&ga_search_query=starfish&ga_search_type=category&category=weddings.invitation&ga_page=3&includes=tags&includes=title

And why? Have you received an invite like this, and what did you think?
Oh yeah, I am making them myself, they will just look like those :)

    Wedding invitation wording help?
I know there are many sites for it and tons of questions about wedding invitation wording but i was wondering if anyone could help with my unique situations.

    1. The initial paragraph, my parents are paying for the whole thing and helping plan, his parents are both divorced and remarried but as of now they arent hosting or paying for any part of the wedding, and if they do it would be his mom and her husband doing the rehersal dinner. Most the sites said the parents go on the invitation if they are hosting so thats mostly why i’m confused because i dont know what to put.
    2. There is a reception to follow in the same location
    3. There is an informal gathering at my aunts house down the street on a lake afterward, directions will be provided at the reception. If there is anyway to acknowledge my aunt and uncle in this part of the invite thats great.
    4. I have a invitation that folds (its a picture one) and there are 3 pages to be “filled” that need to have directions to the church and stuff too so i dont know where to place things.
    5. My mom doesnt want to make any separate papers except the rsvp cards so it all needs to be on the invite.

*The invites are not elegant, they are really pretty but just pictures of us on them which include us at a soccer game so they arent completely formal*

    Any help would be great!
Like i said, i am not trying to make it a super formal invitation, i want the informal gathering on there, as well as recognition of my aunt and uncle. and yes, i’ve been to theknot.com as well as many other sites.

What software do I need for my wedding?
Ok so I am about to warn you I am a compulsive list maker and a limit less creative thinker which can be a bit much but this is for my wedding so please bare with me. Thank You.

I am getting married and have some really far out fun ideas to help me stay organized and be creative about it. I have a large family all that lives across the country (and a few out of the country) none of which live in the state I live and am getting married in. It would be near impossible to contact every one and not everyone is sure they can make it. So I have a few things I want to do so that I can: 1) Be organized, 2) Keep everyone up to date, and 3) Have them know that this is going to be the greatest wedding ever! I need to know what software I need to buy and learn to get my ideas to become plausible. Here are my ideas (If it takes several software programs and books, that is ok, but I want to do it myself with little to no help from professionals):

    1) My Wedding Website (My own customized multi-web page website with a .wed address instead of .com). I want to put on this “Wed”site:

(For the home Page I want to have any and all updates displayed and animated section title buttons for the other web pages. I want it to look professional not cheesy or cheap)

Web pages: I want all pages to be pr have animation
    A) Wedding Party Personal Pages- Each wedding party member and our parents get a personal webpage (like MySpace main page). They and I can upload pictures and videos, answer a fun info questionnaire (Favorite TV Show, Favorite Song, Wedding Party Title, Favorite memory or the Bride +/or Groom +/or Best Man and so on, What you thought when you heard they are getting married, ext), Contact information (They get their own individual bridal party email address), Comment Page, and Wedding Duty List.

    B) Contact/RSVP Page- As I said we both have large families so calling is a pain and the US Postal service is slow so I want my guest to RSVP/Change Stuff/Sign Up for Wedding Duties either through this page or the 800 number I am getting. The 800 number is going to have prompts so if I can put a list on the webpage of the prompt numbers coo dose to it.

    C) Wedding Event time Line I can update with pictures to the ones that have passed and my guest know what is coming up and if anything has changed.

    D) Wedding Gift Ideas and where we are registered. I don’t like asking for stuff but all the wedding mags and help sites say it is better because then you don’t get stuck with stuff you don’t need or already have.

    E) Fun Page with quizzes, polls, videos and a comments part so everyone can join in on the fun and talk.

    F) A Picture Mural that just keeps showing tons of pictures at random and people can leave comments on them.

    G) A Video Mural (Same as the picture mural)

    H) My own personal web pages only I can access to update the site, contact wedding party members, ext. Also I need it to be linked to my Software program (Explained lower) so my wedding party can send their answers.

    2) DVD Wedding Invitation with Keepsake Paper Invitation with customized animated DVD menu.

(I want a short welcome video to pay before the menu pops up but also be able to go to the root menu if they don’t want to watch it.)
DVD Menu Options with hover and after effects:
    A) Video Timeline of all the events that are to come.

    B) A Video “Hello” of each of the members of the wedding party and our parents.

    C) A Formal Video Invitation from me and my Fiancé

    D) Fun random pictures that flash timed with music

    E) RSVP Contact Info with the website address video rundown and 800 video rundown.

    3) Wedding Party PC Program with individualized patches to customize per person.

(I know this is going to be the hardest and most likely need a professional. If I truly cannot do it myself, how do I find the right person to make sure it is just like I want it? There are going to be several different sections but for the Main page I want it like the DVD Menu). Also some of the sections I need answers like measurements and such so they need to be able to “send” their answers to my personal web page.

    Program Sections:
    A) Wedding Party Closet. I am having my wedding party choose what they want with the pricing and rental option on it to add to their own personal shopping cart. I have three different outfits each member can choose from (all the choices are different per person). I want them to make a whole outfit including accessories (a lot of it we are footing the bill like make up, jewelry, ext but some of it they are buying like the Dress/Suit, shoes ext). When they are done “adding” they can check out and be told where to send the money. Also they can choose their personal wedding gift from me and my fiancé.

    B) Animated Time line of the events and when certain duties are happening (like decorating, rehearsals, ext.), also an option to RSVP to the events and sign up for duties.

    C) With the best man and maid of ho
